Redefining Youth Performing Arts
Break a Leg Theater Works is a non-profit organization that connects youth from the South Shore community and beyond with experienced Broadway and Hollywood talent.
From brilliant musical productions to exceptional technical training and master classes, our engaging curriculum is designed to empower students to lead on and off the stage.
The Break a Leg Experience
We are committed to developing and nurturing the young talent of the South Shore and preparing for success in theater arts. We foster collaboration among professional artists and youth to create exceptional learning and theatrical experiences.
Master Classes with Broadway & Hollywood Stars
We are thrilled to work with a variety of Broadway and Hollywood Stars during our musicals, master classes and cabarets.
From our Intro to TV Acting with American Housewife Star Carly Hughes, who joined us from tinseltown to our Pop/Rock Masterclass with Jagged Little Pill's 2020 Tony Nominee for Best Actress in a Musical, Elizabeth Stanley, as well as our continuous collaboration with Hamilton's Thayne Jasperson as a Resident BAL choreographer, we offer our students an array of master teachers who are currently working professionally in the industry and our students soaked up the knowledge.
Experience the excitement of live performances and educational workshops led by industry professionals.
Our programs feature master classes with renowned artists and immersive theater experiences.
At BAL, we are proud to bring in impactful and experienced working artists to work with our students such as Blaine Krauss who currently plays the role of Hamilton in the North American tour and Paige Smallwood who is currently on Broadway in Cabaret alongside Academy Award Winner Eddie Redmayne.
Mainstage Productions and Digital Films
At BAL, we are proud to bring in impactful and experienced working artists to work with our students such as Blaine Krauss who currently plays the role of Hamilton in the North American tour and Paige Smallwood who is currently on Broadway in Cabaret alongside Academy Award Winner Eddie Redmayne.
When the pandemic hit, we even shifted toward film productions to keep our students engaged and enlightened while staying safe. This included the world premiere of the high school version of the Off-Broadway hit, Night of the Living Dead, The Musical.
Summer Camps & Pop Up Musicals
Every summer, we continue to expand our footprint to make sure that we are offering the high quality of enlightenment, education and entertainment for our students, families, patrons and community. This includes our Kids on Broadway Summer Camp in collaboration with Duxbury Parks & Rec, as well as our own BAL summer camps. We recently produced a critically acclaimed, immersive production of Chicago, The Musical: Teen Edition at the 1620 Winery at Cordage Park in Plymouth, MA.
Our Story:
Triumph Through Adversity
for "The Little Company That Could"
While we still remain a small mom & pop non-profit, our reach continues to expand. Currently we are proud to direct the middle school and upper elementary Mainstage productions at The Inly School and also run the Music & Drama Department at The Woodward School. We are also proud to have great community partners such as Thayer Academy, MAP Academy, Live Love Dance Studio, and Duxbury Parks & Rec to name a few. Our motto to our students is "come as you are and we'll meet you where you're at", and we never turn an interested student away. We pride ourselves in creating individualized curriculums that tailor to the specific needs of each and every child who enters our doors.
